Maggie Barreto Tercilla has over 25 years of experience representing banks, developers, construction companies, hotel operators, landlords and tenants in a variety of real estate transactions. Prior to joining ARHMF, Ms. Barreto Tercilla was Associate General Counsel for Florida International University handling real estate development, construction, leasing and finance matters for the institution.
Ms. Barreto Tercilla has represented clients such as Marriott International, Citicorp, and Bank of America in acquisition, construction, development, and financing matters. Ms. Barreto Tercilla also has a wide range of experience in the area of leasing, and regularly represents landlords and tenants on leasing of commercial, residential and industrial properties. She has developed particular knowledge in financings, including acquisition loans, refinances, mezzanine and equity financing, multi-state financings, loan restructuring and workouts. Ms. Barreto Tercilla also has considerable experience in all aspects of real estate transactions including representing U.S. entities investing in foreign real estate and working with local counsel in various foreign jurisdictions to creatively document and obtain secondary or ancillary real estate rights in jurisdictions where such rights may not be clearly contemplated under local legislation.
Represented Guernsey-based GoldenPeaks Capital Real Estate, an investment and management company, in its $125,000,000 acquisition of the luxury SLS South Beach Hotel.
Represented Pensam Capital, a Miami-Based real estate investment firm in an acquisition of six multifamily properties located in central/north Florida, South Carolina and Iowa totaling 1,570 apartments.
Represented Magna RE (Buenos Aires) in its first U.S. investment – a $175,000,000 capitalization of The Gencom Group, one of the largest owners of the Ritz-Carlton flagged hotels.
